چکیده

We consider the problem of interference management and resource allocation in a cognitive radio network (CRNs) where the licensed spectrum holders (primary users) share their spare capacity with the non-licensed spectrum holders (secondary users). Under such shared spectrum usage the transmissions of the secondary users should have a minimal impact on the quality of service (QoS) and the operating conditions of the primary users. Therefore, it is important to distinguish the two types of users, and formulate the problem of resource allocation considering hard restrictions on the user-perceived QoS (such as packet end-to-end delay and loss) and physical-layer channel characteristics (such as noise and interference) of the primary users. To achieve this goal, we propose to assign the bandwidth and transmission power to minimize the total buffer occupancy in the system subject to capacity constraints, queue stability constraints, and interference requirements of the primary users. We apply this approach for resource allocation in a CRN built upon a Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) long-term evolution (LTE) standard platform. Performance of the algorithm is evaluated using simulations in OPNET environment. The algorithm shows consistent performance improvement when compared with other relevant resource allocation techniques. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Resource Allocation and Beamforming Algorithm Based on Interference Avoidance Approach for Device-to-Device Communication Underlaying LTE Cellular Network

In this work, we consider device-to-device (D2D) direct communication underlaying a 3GPP LTE-A network. D2D communication enables new service opportunities, provides high throughput and reliable communication while reducing the base station load. For better total performance, D2D links and cellular links share the same radio resource and the management of interference becomes a crucial task. We...

A Review Paper on Improvement of Coexistence of LTE Femtocell Network with Dynamic Resource Allocation

A cognitive femtocell is a new small cell based on a smart home base station to solve the spectrum-scarcity problem. Recently, dedicated resource allocation for cognitive femtocells is extensively researched to mitigate the co-channel interference. However, the cognitive femtocell may suffer from the lack of frequency resource for its users due to high data traffic load of the macro cell. Inter...

Using TV White Space for Interference Mitigation in LTE Femtocell Networks

The traditional Femtocell shares the same licensed frequency band with Macrocell, thus introducing cross-tier interference. Interference mitigation between the Femtocell and Macrocell is considered to be one of the major challenges in Femtocells Network. In this paper, the released TV spectrum by the digital switchover named TV White Space (TVWS) is proposed to reduce the interference for the L...

Resource allocation for secondary users with chance constraints based on primary links control feedback information

Resource allocation for secondary users is an important issue in cognitive radio networks. In our article, we introduce a resource allocation scheme for secondary users to share spectrum in a cognitive radio network. Secondary users can exploit the spectrum owned by primary links when the interference level does not exceed certain requirements. Uncertainties of channel gains pose a great impact...
